Welcome to the San Francisco Paramedic Association, Northern California's first choice for quality emergency care education!
The SFPA is dedicated to providing up-to-date, emergency health care classes to both the public and professional health care communities.
Our goal is to provide an enjoyable, but challenging, hands-on interactive learning atmosphere to help prepare students for any possible medical emergency.

- Getting ready to test the National Registry Exam? Our Paramedic Registry Prep & EMT-1 Registry Prep are designed to prepare you to pass the examination - the first time!.
- The ALS for EMTs workshop is designed for those who wish to go above and beyond their current training. Learn how to assist in various advanced procedures, such as glucometry, CPAP, electrocardiography and more!
Lecture Series
- Subject matter experts present on a wide range of topics of interest to emergency health care providers. These exciting lectures are free to members and offered at low cost to the community. New lectures are announced as soon as they are confirmed and seating must be reserved on a first come, first served basis. Continuing education is provided for EMS providers and RNs. Persons or organizations interested in giving a lecture that covers an issue important to EMS please contact the SFPA's Executive Director, 415.543.1161 ext 304.

Not a Let to Stand On: Management of Orthopedic Emergencies
Joe Serra, M.D. is an Orthopedic Surgeon who has been teaching the management of fractures and dislocations to physicians, nurses, paramedics, EMT's and climbers for many years. He is a 25 year veteran of the National Ski Patrol. For many years he was the orthopedist for the University of the Pacific, and the Milwaukee Brewers Farm System and the Stockton Ports baseball team. He has had many years of climbing and trekking in the Sierras, Himalayas, Andes, and Canadian Rockies. Joe currently is an adjunct professor of orthopedics at the University of Pacific doctorate program in Physical Therapy.
