NAEMT Vote results
Members Elect New Board Thank you for voting! Members elected a new slate
of directors in the most recent election, which concluded on September 28,
2008. Congratulations to our new leaders! Election results are as follows.
President-Elect Connie Meyer of Greeley, Kan., has served in various leadership
roles within NAEMT for the last 15 years and currently serves as a full-time
EMS practitioner and as a volunteer EMS responder in Olathe, Kan. She looks
forward to continuing the progress of increasing the visibility and influence
of EMS practitioners as a vital part of the nation’s first responder
and health care system.
Secretary Don W. Walsh has served in various EMS positions with the Chicago
Fire Department, and currently works as a licensed EMT-P and serves on the
Illinois Emergency Medical Response Team. He also is an adjunct faculty
member of the National Fire Academy under DHS and a fellow with the Institute
of Medicine of Chicago. Walsh has served as president of the Chicago Fire
Paramedics Association and previously served on the NAEMT board of directors
from 1990 - 1991.
Treasurer Rick Ellis currently serves on the NAEMT board as the Region II
Director and has served NAEMT in various leadership roles, including on
the board of directors for several years and in the Military and Instructor/Coordinator
Divisions. Ellis is a nationally registered Paramedic, and recently retired
from the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Robins AFB in Warner Robins, Ga.,
as an aerospace medical service craftsman in the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
He plans to use his knowledge and expertise to continue NAEMT’s growth
and visibility both inside and outside of the profession.
At-Large Director Ken Bouvier has served in various capacities for NAEMT
for many years, most recently as immediate past president. He has been involved
in EMS since 1974 and has served for 33 years as both fire chief for Monsanto
and as EMT/paramedic for New Orleans EMS, where he currently serves as the
administrative liaison. He feels that his active involvement in two types
of EMS delivery models gives him a unique perspective and first-hand knowledge
of the issues EMTs and paramedics face every day at work.
Region II Director Dennis Rowe of Loudon, Tenn., has served in a variety
of EMS positions, including as a paramedic and as a member of the Prehospital
Trauma Life Support committee. He has served on the NAEMT board of directors
and hopes to continue to elevate the EMS profession nationally by implementing
the goals stated in the NAEMT strategic plan.
Region III Director Aimee Binning of Pinedale, Wyo., has worked in EMS since
1994, beginning as a firefighter EMT and currently as a volunteer and educator
for Sublette County EMS as an EMT-I. She also is a member of
NAEMT's membership committee
Region IV Director Charlene Donahue has served over the past year on the
NAEMT board as well as on the membership committee for two years, and looks
forward to continuing the progress of national advocacy and overall strength
for the EMS profession. She has worked for 27 years in both rural and large
urban EMS systems in British Columbia, Canada and California, and currently
serves as a field paramedic and clinical training leader. She has served
as president and vice president of the San Francisco Paramedic Association.
These new board members will join incoming President Patrick Moore, Jerry
Johnston as Immediate Past President, and current directors Jennifer Frenette
and Jim Slattery (both Region I), Don Lundy (Region II,), Sue Jocobus (Region
III), K.C. Jones (Region IV) and Chuck Kearns (At-Large) on the new board.
Many thanks to outgoing Secretary Bob Loftus, Treasurer Ed Sawicki, and
Region III Director Will Chapleau. We appreciate your dedication and service
to the profession and the association.
